Lantana is an early stage, white biotech company based in the south of Alsace, France, close to the German (Weil am Rhein) and Swiss (Basel) borders. Our core technology is the engineering of single cellular organisms, notably the baker’s yeast, for production of bioactive plant compounds to be used as ingredients, by partners and customers, in the foods and beverages, dietary supplements, and personal care industries.
Our focus is on production of aromatic compounds, mainly those derived from the aromatic amino acids phenylalanine and tyrosine, including the groups of compounds known as flavonoids and anthocyanins. These compounds, also sometimes referred to as polyphenols, are associated with numerous health benefits, and their use as functional ingredients and dietary supplements has seen dramatic increases over recent decades. In addition, the anthocyanins are used as natural colorants for foods, beverages, confectionaries, and personal care products.
Lantana was founded in 2019, based on extensive business, scientific, and technological experience, supported by strong intellectual property (patent pending), as well as a thorough understanding of the business area in which we are operating.
